Dear Owls

Great turn out for the game vs Cobham. Cobham wanted to pull the fixture mid-week and the only way to ensure they appeared was to allow them to field a mixed age team and their youth in certain positions paid off for them in what was a well fought local derby. We ended up fielding 27 players on what was a special night for club stalwart and Owls legend Paul Mills (Pictures attached). I couldn’t have been prouder of the spirit showed on and off the pitch and a couple of the Cobham players commented before they left what a special club we are.

On what was a good game It was great to see Dan Minney(Don’t tell his wife) Randell (his wife doesn’t care) and Pete Mills (his wife left a long time ago) back in action for the club.
Friday was also notable as we had a playing President for the first time in a very long time. For those of you who don’t know our very own Chef and Top Owl Gareth Owen has been appointed our new club President replacing Ken Perry. Congratulations to Gareth from all the Owls. (You will be pleased to hear that Gareth has already gone native and gave me a bollocking in the changing room afterwards for substituting the President at half time)

Once we get this weekend’s Anzac World cup final out of the way we have a big month ahead of us.

On Saturday 14th November we have our first Saturday fixture of the season away to Barnes. Barnes beat us last season but I am sure if we take a strong squad over there on the 14th then we can come away with a famous victory. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR AVAILABILITY

The following week we are at home to Ealing. We are currently trying to move this to another Friday evening game so that we can put together at least a couple of Owls tables for Gareth first official Presidents lunch on Saturday 21st. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR AVAILABILITY.

Let’s take a strong squad to Barnes on the 14th and get our first win of the season.
