Weybridge Vandals' netball club captain Ellie Bicknell's A Team will be out for revenge when they make the short trip to neighbours Cobham A this Saturday.
Vandals, now solely based at Brownacres, were edged out 35-33 at Fairmile Lane in the first of back-to-back clashes with their derby rivals.
Excellent work in the defensive circle and some encourage attacking passages of play were not quite enough in the end, but the narrow margin of defeat leaves Bicknell et al confident of turning things around.
Elsewhere, there were impressive wins for the B and D teams against Cobham C and Rivers respectively at the weekend, helping to contribute towards a solid opening to the new campaign across the board.
"Vandals netball is off to a strong start this season, with all four senior teams showing great commitment, resilience and team spirit across their opening fixtures," said Bicknell in her monthly club update.
"The Bs have made an especially impressive start in securing their first wins having earned promotion to Division Five for this season.
"Across all teams, there has been a real focus on effort, adaptability and supporting one another, with players regularly recognised for the team and individual contributions."
Saturday's action starts at Cobham at 11:15am, while the Bs and Cs head to Nonsuch High School to face Berries and Tiffinettes (both 10am starts), respectively.
