Cobham25 pts Weybridge Vandals 27 pts By John Farrow

This derby match was rich in effort, endeavor, enterprise and did full justice to both teams with Vandals recording a memorable victory over their old foes Cobham in the dying minutes. It had all the ingredients of a local derby and the two-point margin demonstrated the closeness of the battle much appreciated by a large vociferous crowd.
Vandals came out of the blocks in enterprising fashion gaining a decent ball and scoring the opening try early in the game through Paul Lewis. Cobham struggled to get going but strove upfield but being held up at the tackle area and turning over the ball , Vandals hooker Cameron Edgar made a fine run to set up a second score and gave Vandals a 10 point lead.
Cobham then received the yellow card and Vandals made the extra man count scoring a converted try to now lead by 17 pts to 3. They then then had to defend in numbers as Cobham came into the game and showed their attacking instinct with counterattacks bringing them a try just before half time. With the successful conversion the score was 17 pts to 10 in Vandals favor at the turnaround
Cobham started the second half brightly and Vandals conceded the try early in the second-half. A second a yellow card did not help their cause and Cobham took full advantage to slot over over a penalty to now lead by 18 pts to 17. Buoyed up by this score they stormed back on the offensive and with the breakaway try by their fly half and a conversion they now led 25 pts to 17 and looked in control.
Two more Yellow cards were waived – one for each side, and then Vandals then slotted over a further 3 pts and with their confidence booming they poured upfield to set up a series of further counter attacks and then the last stages of the game the mounting pressure inflicted by Vandals now paid dividends after a long raking touch kick set up a line out close to the Cobham line which they used to drive relentlessly forward bringing a try under the posts for Carl Hoade to bring the scores level and the conversion by Dave Kemp to score a well deserved victory.
on Sunday Vandals under 15s had a huge victory over neighbors Reeds winning by 52 pts to 49 with both sides playing some outstanding rugby while the U18 side also impressed with a fine display winning 25 pts to 21 against Camberley and The match was refereed by Alex Forrester adding Refereeing achievements to his past playing career.
