What a fantastic Vandals day it was last Saturday on and off the Pitch/courts.
On Saturday morning our netball As and Bs both won to top the table in their respective Surrey leagues and on Saturday afternoon our 1st XV delivered their 9th successive bonus point win in the league to go top of the table by 1 point from local rivals Cobham who we travel to this week.
The 1st XV games was followed by another epic club Christmas lunch enjoyed by 185 guests from across all sections of the Vandals family. A huge amount of work went into making this very special annual lunch a big success and I am very grateful for all the volunteers who helped us get the marquee set up and ready on Friday afternoon, to Chef Gary and his team who did an amazing job catering for this many people from our limited kitchen facilities and to Kate, Maria and our hard working bar crew who did a brilliant job.
Finally Simon Greenhill, Phil and Josh our West End singers who give up their time every year to entertain us.
At the lunch as well as our mega Christmas raffle we also passed our giant piggy bank round each table and collected £540 for The Teenage Cancer trust a charity chosen by the Baxter family and one we will be dedicating our ‘Ladies Lunch” on Saturday 14th February to.
I’m really proud of the event our Club Christmas lunch has become and their are very few community clubs in England who would be able to make this happen, however I am also conscious that based on feedback we could have sold at least another 100 tickets and next year we are going to look run two Christmas lunches across consecutive weekends with the additional lunch specifically aimed at our mini and junior sections across all three of our sports.
